Picking up on the success of “The Best Start”, string specialists Angel Lee and Andrew Filmer team up to refine teaching strategies for intermediate students of Grades 4 and 5. How do we get students to play off the string? What are strategies not only to learn vibrato, but use it musically? And how do we prepare them best for the advanced levels ahead?

Join us for a conversation on all these and more, in this special collaboration of Trinity College London, the SEA Music Academy Online, and the Euroasia Association of Performing Arts. This two-hour seminar includes video-viewing and Q&A sessions with live-demos.

Dr Andrew Filmer is an associate professor at Sunway University in Malaysia and performs in the Sutera Ensemble. He holds a PhD from the University of Otago, and a master’s in viola performance from Indiana University South Bend. He is versatile in the arts, combining his musicology training with that of viola performance and a passion for teaching. Andrew has won commendations and prizes in teaching, public speaking, research, performance and leadership. As an active supporter of historically-informed performance, he was part of a three-person team that constructed the first harpsichord built in Malaysia.
